Community members are urged to stay alert following reports of people allegedly going door-to-door pretending to represent insurance companies while promising food parcels and assistance.
These individuals are said to target mostly grandparents and people living with disabilities, asking for id numbers, sassa details and other personal information without clearly explaining what the information will be used for.it is alleged that some victims later discover monthly deductions of between r195 and r230 from their sassa grants for insurance policies they never knowingly agreed to.
Residents are warned not to share personal information, bank details or sassa cards with strangers. community members are encouraged to always ask for official identification, carefully read documents before signing anything and report suspicious activities to sassa offices or the police.
