Boschfontein, Mpumalanga – The Boschfontein Regional Court has sentenced a 37-year-old creche worker to 25 years’ direct imprisonment for raping a 4-year-old girl at a creche in KwaMhlushwa.

The incident happened on 01 September 2023 after school hours. The child was called into the kitchen, where the assault took place. Her sister witnessed the incident through a window and later told their mother after the victim complained of pain. The matter was immediately reported to police, leading to the accused’s arrest.

Despite pleading not guilty, the court found him guilty based on witness testimony and medical evidence.

In addition to the prison term, the court ordered that his name be entered into the National Register for Sex Offenders, and declared him unfit to work with children and to possess a firearm.
