Emalahleni- The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Witbank has arrested 29-year-old Melissa Vice in connection with the murder of her brother-in-law, 25-year-old Willie Visser. Visser’s body was discovered on 16 December 2025 in the bushes at the Seekoeiwater plots, near Doornpoort Sub-Station.
Police reports indicate that a passer-by walking along a dirt road from Bankenveld towards the Seekoeiwater plots noticed a body lying in the bushes, a few meters from the road. The passer-by alerted his employer, who then contacted authorities.
Upon arrival, police found the deceased lying on his back with visible bruises on his face, arms, and stomach. Preliminary investigations suggest that the body may have been dumped at the scene, as vehicle tyre tracks were observed nearby. It is suspected that the deceased was assaulted with a blunt object, resulting in his death.
Following further investigation, Melissa Vice, the wife of the deceased’s brother, was arrested on 24 December 2025. She appeared at Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on 29 December 2025 facing a murder charge.
The accused was remanded in custody, and the case has been postponed to 14 January 2026 for a formal bail application.
