Rhandza xikolo xawena campaign launched in Bohlabela district.

The MEC for Education, Ms. Lindi Masina in association with the department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land & Environmental Affairs and Bushbuckridge Local Municipality have launched the Bohlabela District Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena campaign at Khomanani Daycare Centre in Hlavekisa village in Bushbuckridge.

This annual initiative aims to foster community collaboration in ensuring the maintenance of clean and safe learning environments, whilst promoting a sense of community ownership of schools, fostering a sense of pride among learners and the community and enhancing the quality of education.

The MEC warmly welcomed all teachers, non-teaching staff and learners back from a well-deserved school holiday. 

“I trust that you had time to rest, reconnect with your families and prepare yourselves mentally and physically for the term ahead. As we begin the third term today, we are entering a crucial phase in the academic year. This term has 11 weeks with 54 calendar days. These days are to be used to advance learning and teaching and to improve learner performance. The third term is a time for focus, commitment, and momentum”. she said.

Masina further encouraged learners to invite local stakeholders to participate in the campaign, Their contributions will include cleaning school grounds and classrooms, repairing broken furniture and equipment, painting school buildings, and planting flowers and vegetables.

Schools were also urged to adopt innovative approaches, maintain a sense of excitement, and share campaign-related images on social media while adhering to legal frameworks. meanwhile School governing bodies were also requested to lead by example, motivating communities to participate in the campaign.
