WINTER VACATION CLASSES KICK OFF TOMORROW AT 107 CENTRES

WINTER VACATION CLASSES KICK OFF TOMORROW AT 107 CENTRES

The Winter Vacation Classes for Grade 12 learners will commence in full swing from Monday, 07 July to Friday, 18 July 2025.

These classes are a critical part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to improve learner performance and are established to accommodate 23,034 learners from schools  that achieved less than an 80% pass rate in the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination.

This  intervention is intended to provide additional  support, bridging learning gaps and preparing learners for improved performance in the upcoming examinations.

Officials from the Department will visit Lekazi Central Secondary School in the City of Mbombela Local Municipality tomorrow, Monday 07 July 2025 at 08H00  to monitor the start of the classes.

Other centres across the province will also be visited to provide the requisite support and motivation.

The Department will be providing daily meals and scholar transport to deserving learners.

The  most experienced and high performing  teachers  with a sound performance record have been selected to facilitate the classes.

Their expertise will expose learners to effective teaching strategies and help fast-track academic recovery.

These Winter Vacation Classes follow the highly successful Residential Camps held during the week of 30 June 2025.

The Department was greatly encouraged by the outcomes of those camps and is confident that the same spirit of dedication and excellence will be seen at all 107 centres starting tomorrow.

The ultimate goal of this initiative is clear, to improve the provincial pass rate to 90%.

To achieve this, we call on parents, guardians, and all members of the school community to play an active role by motivating and encouraging learners to attend these sessions consistently.

Together, through collaboration and commitment, we can ensure that every learner has the opportunity to succeed.

A Province at work for all.
