In a heartfelt tribute to Nelson Mandela, MEC SJ Manzini dedicated 67 minutes of her time to commemorate Mandela Day by visiting the rural community of Kamthakathi Village near casteel , situated under the Malele Tribal Authority. This visit was not merely an opportunity to renovate the Moreipuso Clinic, but also a means to instill hope and uplift the spirits of the local residents, many of whom are voters in the area.

The event brought together prominent figures, including the honorable Kgoshi SE Malele, the municipal manager of Bushbuckridge Municipality, Mr. MR Khosa, several community leaders, spiritual leaders, and the executive mayor, Cllr ML Moroane-Zitha. Together, they formed a united front to honor the legacy of the late struggle icon, President Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela. As the saying goes, “two hands work better than one,” and this gathering was a testament to the strength of community solidarity.

Throughout the day, the transformation of the clinic was remarkable. Volunteers collaborated to repaint the facility, giving it a fresh and welcoming appearance. Additionally, overgrown trees surrounding the clinic were trimmed to create a safer environment for the villagers. One of the most significant improvements was the installation of a large JOJO tank, which now ensures that the clinic has access to clean drinking water, a vital resource for both patients and staff.

MEC Manzini took the opportunity to implore the local residents and the clinic manager to take ownership of their space, emphasizing the importance of keeping the clinic clean and well-maintained in the future. “This is your clinic; cherish it,” she urged the community, highlighting the vital role that cleanliness plays in promoting health and well-being.

In a complementary effort, Mr. MR Khosa introduced an innovative initiative known as the ISO project. This program aims to create job opportunities for residents of the greater Bushbuckridge Municipality while promoting environmental sustainability. Under this project, residents can recycle paper in exchange for money. Mr. Khosa humorously remarked, “Now in Bushbuckridge, there will be no litter or scraps of paper lying around, as here, dirt is money!” This initiative is open to everyone in the greater Bushbuckridge area and is designed to empower residents economically while fostering a cleaner community.

Through these combined efforts, the makeover of Moreipuso Clinic not only enhances healthcare access for the residents but also nurtures a spirit of cooperation and community pride.
