Mpumalanga – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga has urged beneficiaries of the R370 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant who do not have access to data, smartphones or computers to visit their nearest SASSA local offices for assistance.
SASSA says all its offices across the province are fully equipped to assist beneficiaries with biometric identity verification, as well as access to kiosks, official laptops and free guest Wi-Fi.
The move is aimed at ensuring that all qualifying beneficiaries are able to complete their applications and receive their grants on time, without unnecessary delays or frustration.
“The agency is doing this to ensure that all qualifying beneficiaries receive their grant at the right time, to avoid unnecessary delays and eliminate frustrations,” said Acting Regional Executive Manager Xolela Mpambani.
Mpambani explained that SRD grant applications may be declined when the system detects a source of income through external databases, including information from financial institutions.
However, beneficiaries whose applications are declined are reminded that they have the right to appeal if they believe the decision is incorrect or if they are dissatisfied with the reasons provided on the system.
SASSA has also issued a strong warning against scams, urging beneficiaries to protect their personal information. The agency cautioned that fraudsters often target vulnerable grant recipients and advised beneficiaries not to share sensitive details such as ID numbers or banking information.
Beneficiaries are further encouraged to verify the identity of anyone requesting their personal information and to seek assistance only through official SASSA channels.
SASSA reiterated its commitment to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants safely, efficiently and with dignity.
