Mpumalanga Premier, Mandla Ndlovu has officially opened a state of the art high school in the village of Rolle near Thulamahashe in Bushbuckridge recently. Learners enrolled at this school will no longer have to imagine what a science lab looks like or wonder what it is like to type. This as the school boosts new classrooms, science laboratory, computer centre, library, kitchen, hall, guard house, reliable electrical and water infrastructure.

Godide High School is one of the rural schools in Mpumalanga, which have benefited from the province’s goal to eradicate poor learning environments and invest in major infrastructure that will assist learners to access quality education.“We want learners from this school to exceed the expected provincial pass rate of 90%, and obtain 100%. I believe it is possible for them to achieve everything they set their minds on. We have provided them with a fully equipped school that has resources that foster academic excellence, it is now up to them to bring forward positive results” said Ndlovu.Speaking to the youth voice, a learner enrolled at the school, Bruce Baloyi expressed that it is a privilege for him and the other 597 students enrolled at the school to be afforded an opportunity to learn at a school that is fully equipped.

“For many young people living and learning in rural schools, being in a science lab seems farfetched, however it has been made a reality for us and we are truly grateful as the class of 2025. We will not only imagine nor dream. We can now experiment, touch computers, access the library and the many other segments the school has. We are positive that we will obtain a 100% pass rate” he said.In closing, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Mayor, Lydia Moroane announced that her municipality offers bursaries for under privileged learners and that learners requiring further information can visit their offices or speak to their ward councilors. She further added that the top learner in Bushbuckridge will be given R100 000 to use towards transitioning to tertiary education.
