Mayor equips public servants through leadership & wellness seminar

Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Mayor, Lydia Moroane has launched a leadership and wellness seminar to uplift the morale of public servants. The seminar which is aimed at empowering government administrators, faith based leaders and traditional leaders was held at fountain of life church in Bushbuckridge yesterday.

The government leadership, officials and pastors that attended the summit were treated to an uplifting word from renowned international leadership expert, Dr David Molapo who uses a fine combination of humor, education and his personal life experiences to mesmerize his audience.Speaking at the summit, Molapo told the delegation that it is important for them to have three pillars of support that will strengthen and sharpen them.

I “Every leader here needs to have a therapist, coach and a mentor. These pillars will enable you to execute your work well and they will help you to find a balance between your work life, social life and other aspects of your life” he said.He also immensely spoke about having the right mindset and a positive attitude. “We are no longer prisoners of our past, but we are pioneers of our future” he said. Molapo also encouraged his audience to believe that they can achieve whatever they set their minds on and he also reminded them that they should adapt to new ways of doing things.“Leaders must upskill and reskill themselves to fit into today’s dynamics.

The world has evolved so much and in order to meet the needs of the people they serve, officials should constantly improve in all aspects of their lives. Leadership comes with a price to pay and leaders should know that” Molapo said.Speaking to the youth voice newspaper, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Mayor, Lydia Moroane expressed that she initiated the summit to support and strengthen the government leadership in her municipality, officials and faith based organization leaders in the area.

“Leaders go through a lot of emotional trauma, stress and exhaustion and in order to revive them I decided to invite Doctor Molapo who is an expert in leadership to come and motivate our leaders.I believe after this summit they will have new found strength that will enable them to deliver exceptionally well in their roles” said the mayor.
