Pristine Ladies Golf Club in partnership with South African Women in Construction (SAWiC) have raised R150 000 for a drop in Centre in Bushbuckridge.

This during the Executive Mayor’s Charity Golf Day held at the Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview on Friday August 22.

The event saw government, businesses and community members come together for a good cause.

The nine hole tournament started at 7 with Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Mayor, Lydia Moroane, MEC for health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini and MEC for Culture, Sports and recreation Leah Mabuza being at the fore front of the game.

Besides being a sporting event, the game saw key government leaders loosen up on the golf cause and have fun.

MEC Manzini called the day a distressing opportunity. “when we come here we have fun, interact and forget about some of the challenges we might have. This is a great initiative and I call upon women in the province to join sporting codes such as golf that will assist them with their physical and mental health “.

Speaking to the media, PLGC president Mahlatse Malibe expressed that without the support of businesses such as Emalangeni Technologies and government it would have been difficult to meet their target.

“The centre we want to assist, houses 155 kids in a single room, they have no proper ablution facilities and no kitchen. We want to change that and with the assistance of our stakeholders, Orinico C drop in Centre will soon be in a good condition, allowing them to continue assisting vulnerable children” she said.

Malibe added that the event serves as a powerful example of collaboration in action, aligning with the ruling party’s local government Manifesto, which promotes partnerships between government, civic organizations and the private sector for the benefit of local communities.
