The Mpumalanga department of education has called upon communities, SGB’S, sector unions and non- governmental organizations to unite and safeguard schools and learners during this critical time where students across the province will sit for their final national senior certificate exams.

This was announced during the Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube’s press briefing held yesterday at the Kruger national park. It was also revealed that a total number of 69 980 candidates are expected to sit for the exams in Mpumalanga, which will commence on the 23rd of October 2025 and end on the 27th of November 2025.

The department has also announced that it has put measures in place to deliver credible, transparent and fair examinations by providing necessary support for candidate registration and data verification, with 39 centres being accredited independent schools.

Mpumalanga MEC for the department of Education, Lindi Masina highlighted that she is confident that the class of 2025 will make the Province proud. “As you prepare to take your final step, remember that success is the reward of preparation, discipline, and self-belief. Stay calm, focused, and confident. Read carefully, manage your time wisely, and give your very best in every paper. You are not only writing for yourself, you represent your families, schools, and the entire province of Mpumalanga. We believe in you and we are proud of you”.
