MEC MASINA APPLAUDS SERITI MINING FOR INVESTING IN EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

The MEC for Education, Ms. Lindi Masina, has applauded Seriti Mining for constructing and handing over fully resourced Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres across the province, particularly in the Nkangala and Gert Sibande Districts.

This milestone was celebrated in Morgenzon, within the Lekwa Local Municipality, during the official handover of two state-of-the-art facilities, Basizeni Day Care Centre and Phumlani Day Care Centre.

These ECD Centres are fully equipped with stimulating learning resources, play areas, cooking and bathing facilities, as well as administrative offices.

The handover was received with joy and jubilation by parents and learners, as it symbolises a brighter and more secure future for the province’s youngest generation.

Acknowledging Seriti Mining’s benevolence, MEC Masina expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mike Teke, and his team for their patriotic gesture and commitment to the future of education.

“Words will never be enough to express our appreciation for this patriotic generosity.

This is a true investment in the growth and development of our people.

In our mother tongue, we often say Ligotshwa Lisemanzi — loosely translated, “When you nurture a child early, you create sustainable prospects for the future.” MEC Masina

The milestone we are celebrating today goes a long way in advancing our mission to ensure universal access to quality early learning programmes.

It will help guarantee that every child benefits from at least two years of pre-school education before entering Grade 1, while also strengthening our advocacy efforts to expand ECD enrolments across the province.”

The Department recognises this partnership as a beacon of progress, one that inspires hope and reinforces the belief that investing in children is investing in the future.
